Hands-on reviews of the best herb grinders and heavy-duty butane torch lighters in the UK. We evaluate teeth sharpness, machining quality, sifting screen precision, and ignition reliability from brands like Santa Cruz Shredder, Blazer GT8000, and S.T. Dupont.

The gold standard of medical-grade anodised aluminium grinders, featuring a patented tooth design that fluffs herb instead of cutting it.

The industry-standard butane torch lighter for dab rigs and DynaVaps. Continuous-flame trigger, adjustable flame height, and a built-in safety lock make it the go-to for serious users.

A luxury single-torch jet flame lighter engineered to perform in extreme weather, from sub-zero temperatures up to 11,000 feet of altitude.
A 10-foot spool of natural hemp wick coated in beeswax. Light the wick instead of your lighter to eliminate butane taste from your smoke. Cleaner hits, cooler burn, and zero chemical aftertaste.
The iconic Californian 3-piece grinder from Santa Cruz Shredder. Medical-grade anodised aluminium with a knurled grip, proprietary tooth design, and a large 2.75" chamber. The benchmark that every other grinder is measured against.
A stainless steel electronic jet lighter from the iconic Spanish brand. Windproof, dustproof, refillable with adjustable torch flame and a removable base that doubles as a packing tool — all in a premium metal body with a gift tin.
The essential rolling surface from RAW's Classic lineup. Large enough for king-size papers, with raised edges to catch spills and a smooth surface that won't stick to hands or herb.
The official filling aid for Storz & Bickel vaporisers, designed to make loading the Mighty+, Crafty+, and Volcano Easy Valve as mess-free and efficient as possible.
Cheap grinders on Amazon (under £10) are almost always made of cast zinc alloy. These are heavy but the teeth can dull quickly, and they can leak microscopic metal shavings or paint flakes directly into your herb chamber. Medical-grade, anodised aluminium grinders (like Santa Cruz Shredder) are CNC-machined and ultrasonically cleansed to guarantee safety and a lifetime of sharp teeth.
Diamond-shaped teeth in standard grinders act like scissors, cutting and compressing your herb into tight chunks. This can restrict airflow in vaporisers or joints. Patented knurled teeth (like in the Shredder) shred and fluff the herb, creating a aerated texture that burns much more evenly and extracts efficiently.
Heating a quartz dab banger requires a continuous temperature of around 250°C–400°C. Standard pocket jet lighters are too small and will overheat if run continuously. You need a dedicated, standing butane torch like the Blazer GT8000 Big Shot, which can burn continuously for 5–10 minutes safely and has adjustable flame widths.
Anodisation is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant anodic oxide finish. It prevents the metal from scratching, flaking, or rubbing off into your herbs.
Drop a clean 5p coin into the middle storage chamber of your grinder, freeze the empty grinder for 20 minutes, and then shake it vigorously. The coin will knock pollen off the screen and down into the bottom sifting chamber.
This is usually caused by trapped air in the fuel tank (requiring you to bleed the lighter by pushing a pin into the fill valve before refilling) or a dirty piezo ignition spark tip. Use a cotton bud dipped in iso to clean the tip.
Always use high-purity, near-zero impurity butane (such as Colibri or Newport). Cheap butane contains heavy oils that will clog the internal jets of premium lighters like S.T. Dupont or Blazer torches.
